Building a Profitable Blog

This email contains referral links. See my disclosures.

Jessie from the Profitable Travel Blogger Podcast recently interviewed me about all things bookkeeping and taxes. We covered a bunch of topics, including:

  • Bookkeeping basics for beginners
  • How to track your blog expenses
  • Helpful bookkeeping tools
  • How to calculate tax deductions and price sponsorships
  • Tax tips for bloggers
  • And more!

Check out the episode below. I'd love to hear your takeaways!

Since my interview, I've listened to several other episodes of the Profitable Travel Blogger podcast. Jessie has been blogging for years and shares a wealth of tactics and strategies to help bloggers and online business owners increase their revenue and impact.

For example, I listened to her episodes on creative ways to use affiliate links and how to create an amazing resource page for your website. If affiliate links are part of your blog monetization strategy, be sure to check out these episodes.

Small Business Updates and Tools

Advanced and Beginner Blogging Strategy

If you are interested in diving deeper into travel blogging, or blogging in general, Jessie has both free and paid courses to teach you everything you need to know.

Getting paid to travel sounds like a dream come true, and Jessie has a course on how to land paid press trips. Or, if you just need help establishing and monetizing a blog, Jessie is your girl because she does this for a living.

Choosing a Blog or Business Name

If you are thinking about starting a new brand, blog, or website, then finding the perfect name can be the toughest part. Shopify has a free business name generator tool that is worth trying.

I tried the input: “female travel blogger who is adventurous and loves good food.” The tool spit out 24 results, many of them decent. My favorite was “Roaming Foodie” and NameCheap has the domain RoamingFoodie.org for only $7.48 a year! I didn’t buy it, but it sure is fun to think about all the various niche sites I could start if only I had the time!

Featured Business

This week’s newsletter is sponsored by Kerry of Creative Party Design. Last summer a group of my husband’s friends were all turning 50, so they threw a big birthday party at a local park. It basically became a mini class reunion and was so much fun.

One thing they did was create a custom can cooler for everyone to take home to commemorate and remember the event. Just taking that little bit of extra effort to customize a keepsake meant a lot to the guys.

What special event do you have coming up this summer where you would like to include a memorable customizable product? Kerry has many options to choose from, so check out her shop.

If you're interested in getting your business in front of thousands of potential customers and clients, please fill out this form.

On a Personal Note

My family is taking our first cruise this summer! I'd love to hear any tips you have.

Talk soon!

Is the new BOI report with FinCEN legit? This email contains referral links. See my disclosures. An email subscriber asked me a few weeks ago, “Do I need to file this new BOI report with FinCEN, or is this just a scam?” Great question! This is actually legit and a new required filing for most small business owners. However, to put your mind at ease, just this morning, I did a little research on the Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) and filed the form for the two businesses I own in less...
